As the largest steel pipe manufacturing company in Indonesia, Occupational Health and Safety (K3) is one of the main focuses for BPI. BPI emphasizes maintaining and improving workers' health by providing facilities for general practitioners, dentists, nutritious lunches, and medical check-ups.
The 'Safety First' principle not only improves quality and productivity but also directly contributes to worker welfare and safety, as well as operational control.
Work accidents are often caused by unsafe tools or human error. Therefore, safety measures must be integrated with the work that we carry out, with four conditions that each job must fulfill:
1. Occupational safety and health
Occupational Safety and Health (K3) is an effort to prevent accidents and illnesses in the workplace. This involves identifying and eliminating risk factors such as unsafe work environments, the use of inappropriate equipment, and a lack of worker training. Implementation of warning signs, evacuation procedures, and use of personal protection are also important.
2. Quality
It can be evaluated by regular measurement and monitoring, including incident reporting, accident analysis, safety audits, and data collection of workers’ health.
3. Efficiency
Efficiency in occupational safety and health involves effective training of workers, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to identify risks, use equipment correctly, and implement safe work practices.
4. Costs
Costs related to occupational safety and health may be a financial burden, but this investment is significant to protect workers, safeguard the company, and comply with applicable regulations. Effective preventative measures can reduce long-term costs related to accidents and illnesses.
